I was litening to Humberto Gattica's mixes recently, and realised that his mixes are not only wide and deep but also tall if you know what i mean? And so I wanted to try this in my mixes. So far I'm not getting the results I would like. Also, to get sounds coming from behind you is another technique I want to develop? How do you achieve this? Im mixing in the box btw, with some outboard gear such as compression and effects. Anyone got any tips? I heard this technique in Celine Dion's 'A New Day Has Come" (mixed by Humberto Gattica) and it sounds like the music is wrapped around you in headphones? Almost as if you can walk into the mix?
