What's the best book on digital recording...from the perspective of PC based DAW's?

I'm looking for something that will cover all technical aspects, with info on what happens through the entire chain (from the audio interface to floating point DAW's to audio engines to editing & post-processing, etc., etc.)

Have read Mastering Audio, by Bob Katz; & was hoping for something as "in depth", but more in the direction of a PC project studio.
