have you attempted to sync the 2 units yet?
You may want to if you havent already. Word on the street is this doesnt work at all. I can tell you from expereience that 828 MKII's do not sync.

I've heard that it works.
My second Traveler should be at my home in a couple of days.
I will have to sync them then.

How did you try to sync your 2x 828 units?
What computer ?
BNC? ADAT? FireWire?

Many people told me that 2x Travelers should work with no problem...

You really have to check this out. It might not work. So I will give some ideas to test out.

1 - get a word-clock cable. Ideally it should be 75 Ohm Coax. If possible also get a T connector and a 75 Ohm termination, then you will be following the spec. (It is possible to live without the termination).

2 - set one of the boxes to master clock and one as slave. The master should have word-clock on the Out.

3 - I would guess that getting both on firewire might be a problem. If it works, then go ahead.

4 - You might want to try one of the boxes sending on lightpipe. Then only one should be connected to firewire. Set the internal mixer on the other unit to send the output to ADAT. Now you have 16 channels in to the box connected to firewire.

Do test before leaving home, beeing sure that things really work.

maybe this is where the problem lies, you cannot specify that. All you can do is set the general clock source and that is it.
To answer the earlier question, I did the following:

set #2 FW into #1 into my Dell. open DAW select clock source as "#1 internal". snap crackle pop, serious buffer undderruns :evil: , ok. So I set my Fireworx as the clock via spdif then later ADAT optical. Same result.

So, I try to run each separate FW out into my Dell. Then I tried the 3 clock sources same as before. No good.

It may work with the Traveller, just make sure, because I was sure I wouldnt have any problems with 2 828's

In between 1 and 2, a BNC@75Ohms.
Setting 2 as master, 1 as slave.
This should work.

Other situation, I can plug 2 into 1 with ADAT lightpipe (as you previously said). This should work too.

By backup, Saemskin means recording to another device at the same time, for protection of your recording; I've heard that computers can crash (although it's a vicious rumour if you ask me), and bang goes your paid job and future work for that client.
Out of paranoia I bought an Alesis HD24 to backup with my laptop setup (my converters output to HD24 by adat and to the computer by firewire), and now consider the laptop as the backup. Safe is good!

Well, yeah I'd like to have an ADAT 24HD thing. It looks pretty cool.
I will probably do that someday... I have already though about that.
