Hello,

I'm planning to get a CD manufactured and I've seen megalodon.com
I'd like to know if some of you know this company?
Are they good or not?

Please, come share your experience here.
Thanks.

Why don't you call them? Ask for samples and a price sheet. I know when we work with Oasis they are more than forthcoming with samples and price sheets.

They look legit but the only way you will know for sure is to ask them to send you some materials. Also ask the GSA about them. That information should be public. Ask how much they did for the GSA and any other facts they can share with you.

Best of luck!

Megalodon is basically a scam, yes. My friends band went through them and it was the worst thing they ever did. Everything they do is done over in Asia somewhere. They're just a middle man to some Asian company. They're prices are simply rediculous sometimes 3 times the cost of any competitor. My friend had 1000 copies done and nearly each one had a defect on the packaging. I wouldnt use them If I were you. Certainly dont trust them to print up anything over 500 as they have no control over what goes on in Asia, so it seems. After a few thousand dollars and far too many things "going wrong", my friend got his 1000 copies and they were all poor quality. He paid over $2000 for 1000. Im not sure their even around anymore. Likely, theyve been sued by now. I saw this in a search and figured I'd let people know what I know about them.

There's simply much better, much more reputable places to have your CD replicated and the packing printed up than this scam of a place.

I sent them an email asking them to reply to this. It is only fair that they have their two cents worth. YMMV. We will see what they say or don't say!

I realize this is an old thread but I just wanted to warn folks... I personally have had a miserable experience with Megalodon Manufacturing. Additionally Megalodon has a "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau and multiple complaints filed against them at the Oregon Attorney General. Please be aware.

Thomas, I don't think people know enough about their reputation so they don't know they are being scammed until its too late. I saw this thread in a google search and thought id add to the warning. In my case I currently have $5547 tied up in Megalodon and nothing to show yet. Megalodon positions itself as specialty packaging company that is why folks get interested in them. It has only been recently that complaints have surfaced online to warn people that other customers have had problems. Yelp just added them so perhaps that will help.

DO NOT USE

I am currently going through the nightmare of a lifetime. A $3,600 job and I cannot get anyone to respond to me, answer emails, anything. The process of design/templates was absolutely terrible too, senseless delays, days before someone would answer an email with a 'yes' or 'no'.

I cannot speak strongly enough about the ineffectiveness of this company. They did my second record and it was all great, but the ownership/management has obviously switched hands. I don't know if I'll get my CD's or if I'm going to have to open a lawsuit! I'm in hell right now, my band is in hell - that was our money. Now we are $4,000 in the hole and no new CD. NEVER AGAIN, AND OVER TO THE COURTS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

I'm sorry to hear of your problems, and appreciate you giving the studio community a heads-up on the unethical business dealings of this company.

If you haven't yet done so, I'd start by opening a complaint file with the BBB regional office where the business is located... perhaps even contact the local chamber of commerce, and maybe even contact the DA/Prosecutor for that city as well.

You may also want to consider contacting the local TV news for that area; a lot of those local stations love doing expose' pieces on unethical businesses and scam artists.

Forward copies of your complaints and the contacts you have made to the company, and let them know that if they don't satisfy your expectations within 15 days, that you will file criminal fraud charges with the local prosecutor for their city/county.

Good luck...

Hi Claude,
I'm going through the same experience as we speak, have about ~$4,000 tied up in this godforsaken company, they've stopped responding to email and it's been almost 2 months since I've heard anything. I'm now going to look into fraud Layers in the Bookings, Organ area. I'm wondering how you are handing this on the legal end, perhaps we can combine our efforts or at least compare notes. What these guys do is shameful and needs to be stopped.

My advice to you two (JeffLeif & @Claude Coleman Jr ) would to maybe exchange contact details and discuss this away from the forum.

Whilst it is good that personal experience of this companies' activities in dealing with its clients is useful to anyone who may be googling their brand and come across this thread, keep in mind that the administrators of the forum can be found liable for any defamatory statements (which may or may not be true) made about about this company on this forum.

We need to be mindful of that.

- Sean.
