Howdy. I'm not sure that I have the right forum, or even that this site answers these questions, but my reissued Gateway laptop 400sx has been running Cubase SX quite reliably for some time now, but recently, upon playing back a song I've been working on, it will get about half way thru, and suddenly freeze. After about 5-10 seconds of freaking out, it will then say "Audio Engine System Error" and something about a problem with the I/O device(which is weird, because I wasn't recording anything, just editing.)
Anyway, after clicking ok on the message, I simply move the cursor up a few seconds, press play and it'll work again, with no problems. It will only happen at that effected area, for no reason that I can discern.

Any ideas what may be the situation?(I'm also using an Edirol UA-1A and running it thru a Mackie 1200 mixer.)
I've already re-installed Cubase, ran the disk-checker numerous times(it will only go as far as "phase 4", and then freeze up, which, sadly, is NOT uncommon for this machine.), but I'm drawing a blank here.

Muchos gracias. :)
btw-I've already posted at the cubase.net website.
