i was thinkin about getting the PreSonus tube pre and the comp and eq 3 band
connect them to my mbox 2 well this be a good thing or a bad thing cuz i need a mic preamp to warm up my vocals and i wanted to comp them while recording and eq them too...but i was wondering if this would be a good buy or will there be a better buy.
my budget is like 300-350

if you want to get into tubes in an inexpensive (relatively) way
if you want to get into tubes in an inexpensive (relatively) way i would check out the dbx 386... a stereo unit with good conversion built in and limiting as well... oh.. wait a minute... they also made a one channel with compression and a bit of an eq... think the # was 376... also had conversion... i even use my 386 as the front end of my live keyboard rig..(run my kurz into it) also has 2 outputs besides the digital so i can drive front of house and stage rig too... way cool... ya may need to check me on that # it's a silver face job...
back when i worked at a retail dealer one of the lines we carrie
back when i worked at a retail dealer one of the lines we carried was presonus... and i always found them to be top notch stuff in general...i would have no problem having them in my rack ...although at present i dont own any... one word of caution though if i'm not mistaken that pre is whats called a starved plate design.... dont want to overload you with info but a real tube circuit requires atleast 200v on the plate this doesnt come near... now that doesnt mean the thing cant be useful... just that if you think you're gonna get the sound of the real thing you're trippin...
