Hello all, I recently bought the H4N and I'm more than happy with it. It's just great but I have a doubt. I would like to record some songs (karaoke versions) but I can't find a way to play the song in the H4N while using headphones so the mic doesn't pic up the song, and, at the same time, record my voice on a different track. My idea is to have only my voice recorded on a wav file and match it with the karaoke song afterwards on my computer.

Record the backing track in MTR mode, then sing the vocal into a another track (either using "overwrite" or "always new") while listening on headphones to the backing. The technique is described starting on p055 of the H4N manual.
The NT2-A works with the H4N. You will need 48V phantom power (PP) switched on. I haven't had the problem myself, but some people report low-level burbling sounds on the H4N when using PP and the mains power adaptor. If you get this problem, you may want to do your final takes using battery mode, but don't expect the H4N batteries to last very long with PP enabled.

Boswell got it right. You'll want to use MTR mode to accomplish that. I have used Phantom Power (+48) on the H4N with the NT1-A. I did not experience any low level noises at all. In fact, I was a little impressed with how well it worked. I used the power adapter and not batteries. I have not tested with batteries yet. Like Boswell said, I would think batteries would drain fairly quick with the use of phantom power.
