I've just started in my own house recording - my friend and I are emcees and we wanted to stop relying on others. Anyway, I have an AKG Perception 200 and Pro Tools LE 7.3.1 with MBOX mini. For the first week or two, it worked great; we got two tracks done for him and a track done for myself, and I worked on recording other stuff as well.
Now, I was sick for about a week, so I didn't record anything, but yesterday I got healthy again and tried recording... And the mic sounds totally different. My voice sounds muffled, there's an echo around it, it's not anywhere NEAR the original, crisp sound that made me instantly fall in love with what I got.
Does anyone know what might have happened? I might just be totally forgetting something obvious, but I am just stunned here because I honestly can think of nothing wrong.
All help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Nah, they're not on. I actually don't use speakers for playback... Just the headphones.
Interesting thing though, they are different headphones... My old ones disappeared, and I've had to use earbuds.
Don't think that makes a difference though.

I'm going to give a couple of pretty simple ones here - don't be offended since I can't see your setup or anything ...
Just to be sure - your microphone is a SIDE addressing mic. You sing/play into the SIDE of the screen part, not the end as you would on a hand-held mic.
Also, there is a FRONT and a BACK. Make sure the FRONT of the microphone is facing you.

Yes earbuds sound horrible........ I know this cuz like a few weeks ago my bass player and I were listen to his ipod w/ earbuds. I heard it and said ouch!!! The earbuds kill your frequency spectrum and make it sound like crap. I was at my studio and gave him a good set of phones, and he was like WOW!! that sounds soooooo much better!! My advice if u want something to sound good then u need a good monitoring system period. Use good headphones and mix w/ good monitors. Your ears are the most valuable instrument, so treat them to really good speakers/headphones. However, this might not truly be the solution to your problem since u said there is like an echoed muffled sound or something.
