I was wondering if anyone has had success or trouble multitracking onto laptops...
I'm afraid if I go out and grad a pretty nifty laptop that I will suffer horrible latency and problems actually mixing the music...(laggy / horrible performance)
I'm thinking a 2.0+ghz core 2 duo
2 gigs of ram
And can I record directly onto an external hd? too much latency?
Any advice?
Thanks

Hi Cathode,
I use Apple PowerBook G4 (1.67 Gz), 1 Gb RAM with
Digi002R (ProTools LE) on external HD (FireWire LaCie
300 Gb). No problem with tracking. However, the
PowerBook G4 will not handlle complex mixes, but the
new MacPro's are way more powerfull.
Cheers,
Costy.

I am using a Macbook with 2.0 ghz core 2 duo w/
2 gigs of ram. I am recording 8 tracks EASY. However the macbook has only 1 firewire port so if you are using a firewire soundcard (i'm using the saffire 26) it is not possible to write to a HD. In my case i have tied a firewire hub but that did not work, i tried daisychaining the external HD to the saffire but got clicks and pops. Get the MacBook Pro. I realize it is very expensive but....

Never noticed any issues...
