I recently became the proud owner of an enclosed server case along with some empty rack-mountable computer cases. So, I'm going to transfer the guts of my computer over to the one of the rack cases and mount that puppy into the server case.

The thing is, the server case is not going to be anywhere near where I work. Probably 20 or 30 feet away. That means I need a way to hook up my mouse, keyboard (both USB) and dual monitors (digital connection) to the computer.

The believe the maximum lenght for a USB cable is recommended at 12-15 feet. I have no idea for digital video cables though. Has anyone done this sort of thing to connect to a computer...maybe one in a machine room or something like that? Any suggestions for hardware to make this possible?

Cool. If I have to keep everything separate, at least I know that DVI will work for 25'.

Now that I'm thinking about this more, what I really want is something that will let me extend

2 or more USB ports
2 DVI ports
1 Firewire port

...from my computer to my station(?) where I work from. I know that 30 feet isn't that far but I'd like a clean solution may something that uses Cat5 where I plug everything into a device at one end which is connected to a device at the other end by Cat5/6, fiber, whatever.

I've found a few possible solutions but they would involve using multiple devices, 1 for USB, another for Firewire and I havent found one that does 2 dvi signals yet. If there is one, it'll probably cost more than what I want to pay but it will make me happy just to know one exists.

Also, any ideas about what sort of latency I would/could/should expect?
