I am looking for a program to do DVD audio authoring. A mac program would be best but Windowns will do. I would even be interested in a program that didnt offer the higher sample rate but would be able to be played in 5.1. Thanks in advance.

*Well...one of them is SACD only, one is a Yamaha SACD/DVD-A Player but it blew up 2 weeks ago (literally - smoke coming out of the back of it...it wasn't pretty) and the other is the new Pioneer Elite which I bought to replace the Yamaha. It also does both formats. :-?

I LOVE it when smoke comes outta the back of stuff. Reminds me of the "Good ol' Days" of analog and stuff that had to warm up to sound good.
One of my earliest childhood memories involves taking stuff apart, and once even got a shock from sticking a pin into an AC socket.....almost had smoke coming out of the back of ME!
I guess the folks at DELL don't share my feelings right now, though.....

Hehe...probably not. Speaking of which - my mother called me at 2 in the morning yesterday to tell me of that battery recall because she thought I had a dell....Dangit MOM! I used to WORK for Dell, I don't OWN a Dell...ARRRRGGGHHHH....
Oh...I rewired and reprogrammed a pocket simon game when I was a kid - made it so I would always win...Is that cheating or simply a work around? (Am I a geek if this reminds me of the scenario in Star Trek 2?)

Yeah really...you'd think by now they'd get the hint that no one wants to invest in 6 analog cables - they'd prefer some digital cable. (Although DVD-A is spec'ed to use HDMI but only a few manufacturers actually do).
As for content, there are still a few folks creating content for both formats. Telarc is a leader in SACD production and a few symphonies live and die by their production of SACDs (San Fran comes to mind).
