Is there anything wrong with just having female XLR connectors on one end of the snake, and male XLR connectors on the other? Is there any particular need (like for a ground maybe?) to have a chassis for the inputs?
I own (and manufacture) many of these types of snakes.
If grounding is a concern, simply use a cable with a drain wire and hook it up to pin 4 of the xlr (if so equipped - most Neutriks have the internal pin 4 on a 3 pin XLR.)
