Opus or anyone,
I have just had a snare track quit playing on a mix. The wave form is still present visually, but there is no sound from that track. Everything else is working fine. It dropped out when I did a "duplicate track" to get more volume out of the track. I did an "undo" on the dupliacate track and now I've got nothing. As I said, it looks like the info is still there, but there's no sound. . I am using version 1.51 and I've never had this happen before. What the hell. I tried restarting and everything I know to do, but nothing seems to bring it back. I did save the project prior to restarting, and the copy that was saved was the one that I lost audio on. I know I probably shouldn't have done this, but I'm hoping you folks will have a simple solution for me. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Rob

I would first try and correlate the missing track with it's underlying wave file on the hard disk. I don't know Nuendo but there is usually a list of all the wave files somewhere and the file should still be there. If that file is still physically present on your hard disk there is no real problem. You only need to "add" it back into your wave file list and insert it into a new track.

I had similar things happen in Logic Audio and I have to admit that I never found the root cause (which is really not great ...). Are you sure that it is not just simply muted or output assignments have been accidently changed to something meaningless ?

One piece of advice: If you can, tell Nuendo to keep the last 5 or even 10 versions as backups. I personally "save early and save often" but the 5 backup rule has saved me already a couple of times when things went wrong.

Hope this helps,

MisterBlue.

This is a fllow-up to Mr. Blues' comment. If Nuendo is very close to SX then it should have an "audio pool". You can surf the files within this pool and fine whatever you've recorded from past to present. I usually clear unwanted tracks from the pool rather than allowing them to build up in the "trash bin". I can't quite remember which header this under but this will definitely let you know if that file is still on your HD.
