Hi.

I have been looking around for a mic to plug into my laptop for some basic recording. I am looking at an SP B1 at the moment. However, my problem is, I assume that the mic has one of those big plugs where my laptop only has a small input. Is there some way I could plug this into my laptop?

Thanks.

You will need a preamp. This will amplify the signal of the microphone up to the signal level that your laptop's soundcard needs. It will also have a jack that can accept one of those big plugs, also known as XLR plugs. You can get a cable or cable and adaptor that will allow you to plug the output of the preamp into your soundcard's line in jack. ART, Behringer, and M-Audio are some complanies that make inexpensive one channel preamps.
