I have an opportunity to buy one of these soundcards, but am not sure which is better or if both should not be bought.

I'm just starting out. have a computer and believe the specs will cover what's needed by these soundcards.

I plan on mostly doing everything via sampling, but would like the ability to add a mic input, potentially guitars, and/or other devices to allow recording of older mediums (i.e. cassette tapes, vinyl, etc.)

I'm aware that these are PCI based soundcards, but i just want to get my feet wet and start learning.

The price for either seems to be good (at least for my budget).

Any advice would be much appreciated!

first choice is: ECHO GINA 24/96 SOUNDCARD

- ECHO GINA 24/96 SOUNDCARD
- PCI CARD CABLE, BREAKOUTBOX AND DRIVERS,
- CARD HAS;
- 8 CHANNELS ADAT IN/OUT
- 8 ANALOG TRS 1/4 OUTPUTS
- 2 ANALOG TRS 1/4 INPUTS

I'm assuming this is a link to the type of soundcard mentioned above.

Countryman E6

2nd choice is: M-audio Audiophile192 - 4in /4out Recording Soundcard

Features:
24-bit/192kHz audio
2 balanced analog inputs (1/4” TRS)
2 balanced analog outputs (1/4” TRS)
S/PDIF digital I/O (coaxial RCA connectors) with 2-channel PCM
direct hardware input monitoring via separate balanced 1/4” TRS monitor outputs
16-channel MIDI I/O
ASIO, WDM, GSIF 2 and Core Audio driver support for compatibility with most applications
64-bit driver support for Windows
PCI 2.2 compatibility

I'm assuming this is a link to the type of soundcard mentioned above.

generally speaking i might prefer the gine as well except i think you said something about doing alotta sample based stuff in which case this...

"16-channel MIDI I/O
ASIO, WDM, GSIF 2 and Core Audio driver support for compatibility with most applications
64-bit driver support for Windows "

could make a big difference for you....
GSIF is the gigasampler standard BTW...
