So, gleefully, I unboxed my new Pro Tools system late this morning:
- HD1 (Windows)
- Apogee AD16X x/ X-HD card
- Apogee Rosetta 200 w/ X-HD card
- Apogee Big Ben
Bunch of time spent installing and figuring things out but I finally got things working in the studio at the station. Started testing things and came to the realization that I can't play back .wav files (via Windows Media Player) or listen to assemblies in CD Architect. (My old Pro Tools 6.4 using Digi 888|24 interfaces did...)
Does anyone know if the Apogee stuff supports the Digi WaveDriver? They claI'm that their converters appear to Pro Tools as 192 I/O's.
I gotta have this capability.

When you say clocks are all set across the board what do you mean by that exactly?
Since the Rosetta 200 is the DA try setting that to clock from the X HD card and not word clock from Big Ben.
Since Pro Tools dictates the settings the X HD card doesn't receive any information from Windows without pro tools running.

No problems with the Word Clock - Big Ben locks both Apogee boxes and ProTools has been set to use Word Clock instead of Internal Clock.
I fixed the problem after reading the X-HD manual (again). I had to place the Rosetta 200 1st in the Digilink chain since the Digi WaveDriver uses the 1-2 outputs of the hardware of the 1st interface ProTools sees. With the AD-16X 1st in the chain, those were AES/EBU outputs. With the Rosetta 200 1st in the chain, they are the stereo analog monitor outputs I needed.
All is good. And I'm still stupid...

What do you have the Audio settings within the Sound and Audio control panel within windows? Is it set to the Digi hardware and set to be the default devices as well?
Have you set the Apogee's to clock from the X-HD Card? I have a feeling that you may need to do it that way as Pro Tools isn't running and can't tell the Apogee's what clock to use. That's the way the Apogee's work when using them as Digi interfaces.
You should be able to do what you are asking.
