Hi. Might anyone be able to help ?
I can't seem to successfully load my double bass multi samples into Kontact 1 sampler. I've followed the manual pdf but the multi samples are not loading successfully. I gather each note sample is assigned to it's correct key on my trigger keyboard ?
Help would be greatly appreciated. 8) cheers

Reply to dterry re multi samples

I have Loopasonics Double bass multi sample set , which I guess you'd call commercial ? I'm new to multi samples so I'm a bit green.
Anyway , any and all of my single shot samples load fine but when I go to load "multi" in the load / remove button on Kontact nothing happens. And yet, oddly enough I have the MegaPiano M500 multi sample set and they load perfectly. When I load them I double click on MegaPiano first , then it goes to programs. I click on that and a dialogue box comes to save, I do so, and the MegaPiano multi sample set loads into Kontact ok. I have another set of double bass multi samples which I freely downloaded and a rhodes multi sample set but they don't load either. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the " sounding " of the samples once I get them loaded as is the case with any of my single shot samples. ??

cheers, thanks for your reply.

What version of Kontakt are you using (click on the NI logo in Kontakt)?

Most multis are probably created for 1.5 if not 2.0. If they are 2.0 compatible they may not load in 1.x. Even 1.5 multis might not load in 1.0, but I can't say for sure. Can you drag the multi (.nkm) file from the Kontakt browser to the rack (instead of double clicking)?

If you can load instruments (.nki) with no problem, you can always rebuild the multis from individual instruments (usually only 2-4 instruments in each multi), if you have some idea, or documentation on what is in each multi. A multi is just a combination of instruments, often set for velocity switching for each instrument, or just layered. There usually isn't a lot of detailed programming to recreate with most multis - just an effective way to set switching between sample sets (instruments).

Hi dterry. Apolgies for not getting back to you sooner. I'm pretty sure its 1. Thanks for your suggests. I think I need to become quite a bit more knowlegable with Kontact. I'm not sure how to find out kind of files ( .nki or .nkm ) they are. All my loadable files are just wavs or mp3s. I have thought about loading each sample as in individual instrument and then tuning it to its default pitch, but I'd need to have about 20 or 30 instruments loaded. I usually double click to load th instrument
( sample ). I think if I drag and drop my existing wavs and mp3s they should load ok. I have a feeling that my Megapiano M500 samples are the type you mention , either .nki or.nkm. I will recheck and get back to you.
Those multi samples are the only ones that load perfectly.

cheers.
