You bounce to those tracks, you can't record to them. You are supposed to record to tracks 1 through 8, and then bounce to 9-10, so you can then re-record 1-8 and bounce to 11-12. Then once you are done with that, you can re-record 1-8 and bounce to 9-10 and re-record 1-8, but don't bounce anything because it will re-record anything you have already bounced to those tracks because it will overwrite them. Capiche? This is the reason most of us are using Computer software these days...

You can use 9 and 10 for mic's if you have a separate preamp. As designed they are for line level XLR stereo signals. This means they aren't going to have enough gain to run microphones generally.

I'm looking at a picture of your mixer. You should be able to do them like 1-8, with the exception of the sweepable mids on the EQ. Are you trying to do both the XLR and the 1/4" inputs on channel 9 at the same time? It looks like you should be able to use up to 10 mono XLR channels, as long as you don't plug into the L/R TRS jacks at the same time. You've got 13/14 and 15/16 that are only 1/4" for stereo channels - for stereo keyboard inputs, CD/iPod, stereo effects returns, etc.

Without downloading the manual I don't know what else I can tell you. I'll check back later.

dvdhawk - Yes, I thought I should be able to, seeing as how there is a gain control on those channels, I assumed that meant there was a pre-amp. I dont know, the last time I tried it they wouldnt work. But now that I know they SHOULD work, I will try them at my gig tomorrow. thanks!

+1. There is a mono preamp for 9/10 and 11/12. Nothing should be plugged into the line inputs - just the XLR.

You can use the XLR inputs on channels 9 and 11 for mics, just like channels 1 - 8.

You could at the same time use the Right TRS jacks as inputs for channels 10 and 12. Of course you would have to put up with the XLR source being panned left and the TRS input being panned right, but who worries about that sort of thing these days?
