Can you give us a more precise picture of your setup? Are you using some sort of GM sound set or 3rd party plug-in? Of coures, you won't be able to export midi data along w/ the audio, but here's one way you can get this done. You'll need all the tracks to be audio for this to work. You can accomplish this by setting up an audio track (to record the sound generated by the midi) and recording your drums that way.

And yes, I'm using another piece of software to create the MIDI track and im importing it it. But I guess the only way I could do it is if I had hardware that ran through my firebox?

My setup is simple, firebox to my PC, monitors to my firebox and soundcard(soundblasterlive).

You just gave me the idea of using a mic to playback the MIDI and recording the MIDI that way, haha. This isn't for anything special, this is just when I have ideas and I want to lay down some tracks for a song and play it back.

Acutally, I was'nt quite referring to the mic setup, but moreso busing the sound generated by the midi track. This can be accomplished externally via a mixer, or "better" internally through the firebox's software mixer.

hmmm Im still not understand how I go about doing that. when I get home ill check what the settings were or whatever. all i know is i was using my soundcard's midi and the gm drum map or whatever. i dont have anything else but other software to import the midi

Another way would be to use a soft-synth plug-in. I will occasionally use SampleTank for some extra sounds (like guitar or drums), which I have to activate & setup through Cubase. The concept is the same as if you were setting up a midi track. The sound set is all uploaded from a bank you designate in your PC, pretty much the same as the midi sounds you're currently using. The only drawback is, it's (SampleTank) a little memory intensive, so having a large amount of ram is a must. But moreso, the main idea is to capture the best sound possible and going about it this way would be the best. There's a slew of software samplers out there, such as Halion, Native Instruments, GigaStudio & etc. Demo a few and find out which one best fits your needs.

One other thing. IMO, the only drawback to using softsynths/samplers, would be "latency". Yes I notice a difference (as in a delayed attack) when playing my synth/sampler modules as oppose to the softsynths. Maybe I'll conquer this problem when I do my next major PC upgrade. :roll:

I hope you will have found out by now how to export the song the way you want it with MIDI drums. But if not, this may help:

A) First, you must convert your MIDI tracks to audio.

Basically, that means setting two unused tracks to "record", muting everything but the MIDI tracks you wish to convert, adjusting the levels the way you like, and pressing the record button.

B) Second, you mix your audio tracks (including the audio recording of your MIDI tracks that you just did), and

C) export them to a .wav file (for CD burning) or MP3 file, or whatever file format you choose.

You should be able to do all this with the software that comes with the Firebox (assuming software comes with it), or with whatever software you're using to edit audio.

I want to create MIDI drums by clicking notes on the staff with a mouse (since I have no means of triggering samples). Cubase "Help" indicates this is possible by using the Score Editor, found by selecting “Open Score Editor” from the “Scores” selection under the MIDI menu. But “Open Score Editor” is grayed out when I click on "Scores". What do I need to do?
Alternatively, are you familiar with any books that might be useful in learning to use Cubase LE?
