I am a producer and even though my tracks are sometimes as many as 50, I don't record more than 4 tracks at a time (very rarely do I do 4 tracks). I record keyboards, guitars, some other solo instruments and vocals but not any instrument like a drum kit which requires more than 2 mics. I am thinking of getting a Powerbook 1.67GHz with 2 Gig of RAM and 7200RPM hard drive and another external hard drive.

I need help in deciding what I should get as far as audio interface and also any sugguestions you may have since I have never used a laptop before for music. Quality takes precedence over money. If it needs more money, I would rather wait and get it after a few weeks/months but I want to get things which I won't have to replace anytime in the next couple of years. I'm sick of all the buying and selling that I have had to do!
