Insert return ... but really if at all possible, I would bypass the board completly unless you need to sum with other channels or you need the EQ. Patch the Brick directly to the recorder inputs.

I have a Tascam FW-1884 and record directly to my computer hard drive with it. Right now I have the out of the Brick going to the Line In on one of the channels. I have my old Fender Squire running directly into The Brick. WOW!!!!! This shitty guitar sounds better DI'd through the brick than through my buddy's Rectifier (clean channel of course). I just put my POD through it and again.....huge difference!

Guitar Center.....just walk up to the audio guys and tell them that you want the Brick for $325. Thats what I did...they gave me a little shit, I told them I'll go up the street to Sam Ash if they don't do it, and they didn't want to lose my business. I've spent about $15k there over the past two years and about $50k over the past 9 years. They don't want to lose my business....I pay cash!

a great alternative to the POD would be a ADA Microcab(cabinet simulator). Place the Microcab between The Brick and your DAW and you'll be able to use your stomp boxes for distortion. I'm not sure how it works but it definitely gets rid of any digital clipping.

Anytime....you'd be surprised how cheap you can get equipment when you tell the salesman that you are only going to spend "x" amount on something, and if they don't do it you'll get it from their competitor. (You'll both obviously know you are full of it, but it's bad business to have a customer walk out of the door with a competitor in their head). It hasn't failed for me yet because I stay reasonable with my demands. For example, I wanted the Audix i5 which had a $99 price tag. I told him I'll give him $70 out-the-door because I know they probably only buy it for $40 or $50. That was a done deal. I felt like I got something for nothing and they had another sale that will be on their reports to corporate. As long as their reports show they are moving product everybody is happy...IMO.

Now when I go to Guitar Center everyone there knows my name because I spend money rather frequently. Even though they are cutting me a deal...I always go back and I send them a lot of business. I don't even have to ask for a deal anymore....I tell them what product I want...they ask how much I have....and the sale is completed. They know that they aren't losing any money on me, and that if they make me feel like I'm robbing them blind...I'll be back in a week or two for something else.

So yea....I'm cheap, but it makes me feel good to think that I'm somebody special there.

better yet make friends with a guitar center associate.

they get all the gear they want AT STORE COST.

AND they are allowed to hook that deal up to their friends and band members.

Yeah....a guy I've been friends with since we were 12 years old (ex band mate) is an assistant manager there now also. For some reason I never buy from him though.

Some times I wonder what the real "cost" is. I used to work at a music store (mom and pop type) and our cost on things like fender guitars was low we had a 100 percent markup on that stuff. But mics and audio gear etc wasn't marked up tons. I too spend many thousands of dollars at GC every year and get the hook up. However, sometimes I feel like the "cost" they quote me isn't the real cost. For instance I just picked up a ATM 25 for $150, a R-121 for $940, D2 $100, D4 $125----no tax on all...... of course these are all special orders, GC here in Austin never has anything worth a crap in stock. (well, they do have a handfull of nice mics locked in a little glass case). I admit I have got some outrageous deals in the past but I'm just wondering how sweet that deal is now. Do those sound like killer prices or just okay.

My buddy @ GC quoted me $86 after tax on a D2. That is the lowest he can go without approval. (10% above cost).

There should seriously be a sticky thread that lists what people bought what for how much at Guitar Center!!! I go in there all the time thinking I know how much stuff should really go for. I still thought I had a deal on my Audix i5 for them swallowing tax! If i could have gotten it for $70 :evil: !!!!

i know the sales manger of the local guitar center, every one there knows me so i get hooked up with any one without even asking. about the price on special orders i got a crate v15 (grait guitar amp, dispite the crate name, its made the guys who make ampeg) for 219 when it was 180 sompthing my point is when they do special orders like that the computers there factor in shipping cost.
