when you were to save a new project did you created a new folder and saved all of your audio, edits etc in there or did you just hit new project and did not pay attention to where you saved it? The reason why is because when you create a new project and saved it to a new folder and then create another project without a new folder the audio, edits etc get saved in the last one you created witch could be the one you have archived.

I think the solution is to go back to the DVD pulled out the folder and put it back to where it was and save each project through the SAVE AS option into a new Directory and then open them from there instead OR whenever you open one of these projects and tells you to resolve the missing files put in the DVD and resolved them from there. In Cubase 4 I recently had a similar problem and did this and as soon as I inserted the DVD it resolved by itself but you may need to point it to the right folder and then do the SAVE AS deal. Thanks i tried that but... I was archiving a 2+ hour recording of a live performance and when cut at the set break the first piece was just a little too large for the DVD, so I deleted the sound check tracks which were not useable anyway. So these tracks are not on the disks either.

I realize now that I should have ERASED not deleted these but now what?

I have a parallel problem.

Since recording two different songs for two different projects, and doing some mixing, a couple of tracks have disappeared.
That is, the tracks are there, and the background window for the waves, but the wave drawing is gone, and so is the audio. It's just a blank track (w/ distinct beginning and end).

It happened to a synth solo in one, and 3 guitar tracks (one part - 2 mics and DI) in another.

I've just had to go back and have these redone - but you can imagine my horror at having to tell the musicians their "keeper" takes were no more.

To the OP - I've had a similar issue when I moved my project folders from my desktop HD to an external one. As long as all the files are present, I just ignore that message. I think it's a naming/location issue.

I have posted this in the cubase forum, maybe someone will know how to resolve this. THere should be a choice that is not present to "ignore this request" and thereby resolve it.

I do close out the box and continue but it is annoying and just reappears the next time.

Fortunately I have not lost any files that I have needed.

Have you checked on the pool and see if they are there?

I haven't looked at the pool as of yet, will look into that.
I have searched both my internal and external HDs extensively for files that even remotely resemble the ones I'm looking for (search: synth*.wav), to no avail.
We already redid the synth, and are going to have to redo the guitar too.
I thought maybe I did something during the transfer from HD to HD, but I'm pretty sure I worked on these projects *after* the transfers and the files were OK.
I'm wondering if there's issues with my external HD?

Since we have two slightly different topics here, if Soapfloats is using Cubase and not recieving the resolve missing files box then the pool is "satisfied" that the files are being found, so I have no explanation as to where they might be , my thinking is that they got saved incorrectly at one point. Which is why it is best to save each edit as a seperate file because you can then bring back a previous version where the file existed.

Regarding my problem where I know the files were intentionally deleted, if I open the pool the files in question are marked by small boxes with an X and show as 0.00 in size. If I then send them to the trash it fixes the problem, the only thing is I will have to do this for the 20 or so projects I had stored when this occured. I was hoping for a more global solution but...
