Quick question. (damn, I'm full of alliteration today)

My Ghost desk reads SMPTE and can automate mutes for a mix. A have used this feature before when tracking to tape in order to both sync the computer and do the mutes. I suddenly thought: why couldn't I strip code to a track in the computer when not hotting tape, and fire the mute automation with that?

I can't think of any reason why not. What am I missing? It seams too easy. Has anybody done anything like this?

:) Is there a sync input (black burst) on the Ghost as well as the TC input? Seems like there should be an interface of sorts. Something that locks the frames. Try it, can't hurt.

Example, is this a one pass operation, or will an entire new scene need to be made for each pass? Will it find any location in the song, start, stop, search etc. and retain the settings, or will it have to be reset? Will there be any latency issues?
