I am looking for something that will take GPI (contact closures) and make MIDI out of them.
Here is what I want to do. I am using the AIR DB33 organ plugin . I play it with MIDI from a Roland keyboard. That works fine but I can't control the Leslie motor from the keyboard. I either need to use a mouse at the computer or switch the Roland to send out the words. Both are very awkward. What I want to do is build a box with three push buttons for OFF, SLOW, and FAST. I can mount the box on the keyboard similar to a real Leslie control switch.
I found this.

. and it looks like the right thing but I thought I would ask around before I went down that road to see if anyone has any experience solving this issue.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

Have you tried using a MIDI foot continuous controller? (Looks kinda like a wah pedal.)
If the Roland keyboard has a CC input, you could connect that, map it to the same channel as the channel controlling the plug-in from the Roland, and assign the Leslie plug-in to "pedal down-fast; pedal up slow"...and everything in between?
May even be able to program it to less-than 64=slow, more-than 64=fast..., or if the plug-in Leslie simulation has a ramp-up/down setting based on hi-lo signal, in which case you could just use a footswitch controller. That's what I have on my Roland XP30, because it has a nice "ramping" function in the "Rotary" settings.

Thanks for the suggestions. Kapt.Krunch: Your suggestion led me to the solution. While my Roland keyboard does not have a CC input, it does have a slider labeled, "Data Entry." I assigned that to MIDI control #92 and then in the DB33, I assigned that to the high motor control knob. That got me control which is even better than the traditional two speed switches. Unfortunately it didn't include brake. I got that by hooking a foot switch to the pedal input of my MOTU micro express and assigning that to a value of 64 (half way between o & 127) and merging it with the stream coming from the keyboard. Works fine & I didn't need to buy or build anything!
thanks again
..........merging the streams !?! I can't resist this classic quote...

You'd think somebody would have answered you by now Mike?
I would think you might do better with one of those little single octave piano style black and white keyboards? Or, perhaps one of those drum trigger pads? Which are just other MIDI controllers. It should be able to tie in just fine. But as you know, I'm a MIDIdiot and don't do MIDI. One of my professional shortfalls.
