The liner notes on most commercial recordings include the studio used.A quick search of their website(most have one) will reveal the gear in place and a contact number...also the producer and recordist/mixer are generally credited....These may also have a website or perhaps a web presence on one of these boards.Check the sites for info and a query through the net may bring you enlightenment.....For my ears, it sounds like the usual suspects on her voice...Tele 251/Neumann 47/Brauner VM1/etcetc...through a highend pre...possibly API thinking about the edgyness I hear in her recordings.Shes got a HUGE voice so theres gotta be some compression...I'm thinking that unlike a bunch of yer girly diva voices, they threat hers much like a powerful guys voice in the processing.

Yeah, I have left messages on both Annie's site and Dave Stewart's. As yet no response, but that was only a couple of days ago so I certainly haven't lost hope there.

Altought there is nothing wrong about reviving old threads, I just wanted to say, it is possible that the OP won't get your answer.

It always made me wonder when people ask for specific gear that was used on special recordings.
I'm more of an advocate of using what's available to me and what I know well before chasing after obscure gear.
But hey I do original stuff most of the time and I rarely have paying customers that want to invest in unique sound creation... ;)

I only posted because I had just read the post on Facebook and thought, why not. I’m an old school singer, and I’m always looking for how great vocal recordings got that way. When my kids were small, I watched Disney’s “Cinderella” with them. It was on a beat up old Sony television with one teeny monaural speaker. But when Cindy sang “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” just fored me it was as if she were right there in the room with us. Since then, I’ve wanted to know what and how that was done.
