I hav a pair, used them regulary and carried them around, but never really beat or dropped them, so I can't tell you for sure; probably not tough as a 57, but I think they can survive some live gigs, as long as you don't stomp over them or spit into them (do you do any metal acts? :D :D ;) :p ).

In additon to being clipped a bunch by the stray drumstick, mine have been knocked over by drummers from about 7 feet overhead -- not once, but twice. The floor is very hard, and while the second time they bounced off the floor tom on the way down, the first they went straight to the ground. Both times I was sure they were shot, or at least that one of them would be corked, but by some miracle they're fine.

By the way, you have to be an almost deliberate moron to knock over my overhead stand.

They will be used for acoustic instruments and handled with care but a few bumps and knocks are almost inevitable during quick changeovers.

It doesn't matter if your Rode mic can take the bumps and bruises. Why??!?! Because Rode kicks ass!!! I just dropped my NT2 and smashed the capsule. I called Rode, and timidly asked how much it would be to fix...and the guy replied, "we haven't charged anyone for a repair in years". HUH??!?! I said, 'but my mic is out of warrantee, and in addition I voided it by opening to see if I could re-attach the capsule'. He said, "all it's going to cost you is shipping it to us, we'll pick up the shipping cost on its way back to you".

I kid you not, it's going to cost me $4.00 in shipping to get it fixed. NICE!!! This is in the US, so I'm assuming Canada would be the same. At worst, you'd need to pay shipping back to Canada...unless Rode has a Canadian division. :c:

Man that sure is sweet. Rode are designed in Australia (I believe). I have heard their customer service is good and heard similar stories to what you are mentioning. I have never had anything go wrong with Rode mics.
