Are these new DVD recorders that record CDRS suitable for CD mastering? Many will have 4X as the slowest speed and recently I found one with 8X as the slowest speed. THANKS for any help on this.

(B) Runs PlexTools Professional software (which is worth far more than the drive itself, IMO).
1x isn't always the best rate anymore... I've done "fairly" extensive testing (as extensive as I can - and only with Plextor drives) here and find that with quality media, somewhere around 15-20% of the drive's top speed is the overall winner.

For me, I still work for 4X with Taiyo's and Verbatim and get very good result. I did not run too much test since 4X does it well.
