Sure, many are. I think all do disc at once. As long as they are quality drives, and you find media that works well with that drive, you should be able to burn a good disc.

(A) Excellent drive
(B) Runs PlexTools Professional software (which is worth far more than the drive itself, IMO).

1x isn't always the best rate anymore... I've done "fairly" extensive testing (as extensive as I can - and only with Plextor drives) here and find that with quality media, somewhere around 15-20% of the drive's top speed is the overall winner.

So, what is your best speed ?

For me, I still work for 4X with Taiyo's and Verbatim and get very good result. I did not run too much test since 4X does it well.

I had the lowest BLER / best beta / lowest jitter at 8x on the Premium and I believe 12x on the 712.

I could be wrong about the 712... One of these days, I'll dig up all that paperwork - Must've been a ream or so.
