I was looking for some good headphones for recording, and am leaning towards beyerdynamic dt990. Does anyone have any suggestions around the same price range?

The AKG 271 MKII are a good set of phones in that same price range you might want to try.
I don't know if there are Grados in that price range or not, I think the SR325i is in there somewhere.

Using a search engine requires that you are resourceful in searching skills. The search engine doesn't do instant magic in providing specific results that everybody wants or expects. Search for "headphone" and start reading. Ya, it's gonna take some time and effort on your part to fish for and thru what your looking for. The price of free advice and info.
