about your guitar

I found a TINY bit of info on your guitar by going to the search bar (through GOOGLE) and typing in Shiro Guitar. A link to HarmonyCentral came back and had some other people with Shiro guitars...my guess is that they are Japanese based on the content. You'd have to read up on it. :-?

Yeah i know, i found the same... the thing is that you never know how close the truth this "information" in harmony central is..
After trying few other search engines and search methods I actually founded stuff that these Shiro guitars are made in matsumoku's factory by Shira Arai, and that they are best of a kind at the time in early 70's.
If there is anyone who has this kinda electric guitar aswell, I am very interested to hear their comments and toughts about this Shiro...

I have a few Matsumoku guitars (electrics) that I've collected over the years. I was in the music retail business in the 70s/80s when the products
they made were at their peak. I sold Gibson, Fender, Martin, and Guild American brands and the guitars from Japan-mainly Yamaha and Ibanez-were kickin' their butts in the quality vs. price department. Ibanez was a Hoshino brand, but Hoshino made mainly acoustics. Most of the Ibanez electrics were made by Matsumoku, designed by Mr. Arai. They also made Aria Pro II (very nice), Washburn (good), Electra (so-so), some of the earlier Jap Epiphones(eccch), Vantage, Skylark, and tons more. You could spec the features and quality that you wanted and have them build you a guitar under whatever name you desired. This is why there is a good bit of difference between some of the brands Matsumoku made.

Shiro?????? never held of it but if i had to guest....it was made in Japan.

Back in the late 1970s, I always thought that Gainesville stuff made a lot of sense. Especially when I lived in Fort Lauderdale. I've always had a lot of sense.

Actually, I think i have seen these before here and there....never picked them up cause they were models similar to gibsons popular bodys. But do u have any pictures?

Hey, SG guy...
You will see by the previous posts that these guitars were made in Japan by Matsumoku. I listed the website devoted to these guitars, plenty of pix.
And for all of the youngsters out there who weren't even born when these geetars were made, they kicked the butts on the Fenders and Gibsons made in them thar days, as well as many made today.

Hmmm...i actually havent picked on up yet but now im kinda tempted. Im not really a fan of fender guitars tho.....not dissing them but not my style

I have a Des Lauriers electric.
Anyone heard of it?
Sounds beatufully but nobody knows it.
The only thing i've found is that it may have been made at Matsumoku, but i haven't confirmed that yet, if anybody knows anything, let me know.
It happens the same to me, the best guitar ever, but no info on the net.
