Gary, how do you feel the different incarnations of DAW have compared lately. Now that you have your original Anus back, was it the best of the lot? Better than the PRS/Santana system or at least better than the newer 533(errata chipped) board?

The original ANUS was the first machine I built and was brought back only be updated. I updated it to Xp and also removed the CDRom and replaced it with another removable bay system. After that it went right back to the new owner.
As far as what I think about it...it still rocks but I think I would change the processor speed on it..put in a hot swappable bay system and put 1GB of DDR in there.
Does it compare the Dual AMD system? No..not really. Does someone really need a dual AMD system? That depends...does VST instruments work with dual CPU's? Not always...do you get low latency operation? No...you have to uncheck the multi-processor function to get there in Nuendo...
do you get serious mixing power...yes!
In the long run yes I would change the ANUS system to the new 533 systems...especially with DDR 333...think about it. 533FSB with memory running at 333 and ATA controllers running at 133...think about the division possibilities..overclocking! Although you probably won't have to with CPU speeds achieving 3.0GHz..
Now, what do you thyink about the Itanium 2's? 64 bit baby! Sure, they are really friggen expensive but think about the future...ALL 64 BIT!!! That would rock! What is the FSB of that at that point! Geez...I wouldn't even fathom it at that point..don't think it would matter now would it?
Do you know how many servers are being transitioned into Wintel machines now? My brother in law is an IT tech here in NY and of course we always geek out at every gathering talking about every aspect of computers and the industry...well, hope that fills your brain with some thoughts!
