Hey folks,
I'm using 1.5.2 Nuendo, and it has worked like a charm for me, and I'm wondering about upgrading to 2.0, but I've been reading horror stories about the 30+ bugs that it seems to have. Do you guys think that the bugs that have been identified are really major, or are people being really picky? I would expect a few bugs with any new software, but seems like Steinberg really didn't do their homework on this one. I know that they will eventually correct the bugs, but I don't know that I want to put up with the headaches until they get their sh*t together. What are your thoughts?

i've tried N2, it looks great but i can't get it stable.
i installed new hd's, changed memory, changed os's(xp sp1 and pre sp2 along with 2000 w/ sp4) i even put it on my server..i can't get it stable for nothing...
with my server it stays on for about 5 minutes then it'll lock up. with my regular daw it'll lock in less than 30sec...
after reading the nuendo forums, a lot of ppl are having the same problem that i am. so far everyone is running abit MB's and WD 8mb cache drives too.. maybe it has something to do with the hardware... i know a local studio that has a mac though and they have problems with n2.. i think once the bugs are out it'll be great to use...
opus, i don't know how yours is running so smooth... the only thing that went smooth was the install ;)

There has to be something you are overlooking.
The most problematic things people are having are more with issues that they don't like a button missing or a feature has changed.
There's too much whining on those forums for me to deal with...not enough cheese either for it all.
For me I haven't had a problem in any way. I mix 50+ tracks plus reason rewire running with massive amounts of plug ins...not a single crsh or hiccup.

The big problem with Nuendo (all versions) and SX as well is in the editing. When you stack tracks and use the splice tool you can choose which layer to stack on top to play. The program should always play the top layer but as often as not it will play the layer below. Seem to be almost random. This is a very major bug. I would not recommend that anyone upgrade to 2.0 at this time. Steinberg needs to do their homework as I really want to see them succeed. Customers shouldn't need to beta test their software. (Actually I take that back - they should let folks beta test before they make an official release). I think that customers should insist on bug free software (within reason of course). Vote with your pocketbook. Don't purchase software until it's ready for primetime. Sorry Opus- have to disagree with you on this one. :D

Any software will have bugs..and of course we want software without bugs. Who wouldn't!
If Microsoft was bug free, shit, life would be grand!
Your listing of that one bug is a definite issue but look at half of the posts on the user forums in the Nuendo forums. They're all whiners repeating themselves over and over again.
If you don't have anything new to post, then shut up I say! lol
I'll check out the bug you mentioned and see if I can get it to happen.
Otherwise, people are working on it and getting results. If you can get results than how bad can it be?!!!

This is the main thing that makes me uneasy about Nuendo (running 1.62 right now). I've never heard this happen within an 'export audio mixdown,' but it's disconcerting when you're playing through the chosen take and an old mistake pops up.
'er, no, that's not the right track, ooops, hold on...'
Fortunately it's only like once a week here.

Well,
obviously it's not preventing people from working with the software so you have to imagine that the forums are making it out to be worse than it is....
Personally I have given up on those forums as it's turned out to be a bunch of whiney wankers with nothing better to do but to start un necessary postings! I'm tired of it...it's gone from pro to childish idiots.
I find that only a 1/4(if that) are legit enough to be considered major bugs and the others to be silly gripes against the way they want it to be.
The Mono button for example...chirst almighty! It's a simple right click and select now! Big F***N deal!
I've been working on it with no problems in any way...I've mixed about two dozen songs or so and have had great results with it.
I'm sure the update will be out very shortly so if you got your copy ordered by the time you got it the update will be available.
