Jules,

Now that you track everything with your FATSO, adding lots of "warmth", would you still invest in a HEDD for your mix bus...if you didn't already have one?

And what exactly does the HEDD add at this point that the FATSO hasn't already given you?

It allows me to 'juice up' my mix without converting d/a & a/d. It can be used as an AES insert across the Mix bus..

To use the Fatso on a mix would need to go out into the analog world then back to digital again... I skip that altogether..

Recording = Fatso - then Hedd as converter
Mixing = Hedd process as AES insert

Using compression or 1/2' tape or 'loudness' software on a mix is a well known trick. The idea is to 'glue' the sound together at that final stage make it sound more 'together' complete or 'whole'.
