If by false notes you mean out of tune, wrong, or missed, then absolutely!
That's the beauty of digital recording.

My first suggestion would be to re record the whole track 2 or 3 times to find sections that work best. Then create a composite track of the different takes. Virtual tracks are no real problem in PT. You may have trouble with a large number of plug ins per track but tracks shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Second suggestion would be to punch in at problem spots, if you don't know how to do this, read the manual. Give yourself a few measure of pre roll and re- sing just the trouble spots.
This might give you more accuracy than suggestion 1, but it can suck the life out of natural performance.

I know some people swear by it, but I find it offensive and demonstrative of poor skills, but there's also auto-tune and similar plug ins that pitch correct. I don't include it as a suggestion but it is an option.

I'm one of those who swear by the composit-track technique, since my singing skills are pretty poor, and for me it's the only option to get even passable results. I used to sing pretty well, but I've been away from it for several decades, so it'll take some work to re-train my voice, and I'm facing the possibility that I may never really be able to sing the way I would want to. Nevertheless, I can get pretty good results by recording a vocal a section at a time, and just setting the software to record that section in a loop until I have several takes (this creates a composite track - I'm using Cubase, but I'm pretty sure ProTools also has this feature). Then I can review each take, and delete all I'm not satisfied with, until I find the best one, and keep that.

Then, (just to REALLY offend all the good singers here...), I've also had good results in fixing further false notes by using Yamaha Pitch Fix to further process my vocals.

Do I get a really sparkling, professional recording? No! Does it make me sound as good as I possibly can? Yes!

Auto tune might be the only option for some vocals after composite tracking. I've had projects when auto-tune has saved the day big time. This is specially true when people are paying you to make them sound good. The latest version of auto tune, #4 is a lot more transparent that the ones that came before. That being said, the best way is to rely on composite tracking and making as many tracks as you need

and don't forget just getting a great singer... that always does the trick! :D

Threre are few moments in a vocal track that I want to correct so I'll try all yours advises.
And another question: When I record vocals and singer sing clean voice I can easly see in diagram what frequency (note) he achived but when he sings throat (smth like AC/DC, GN'R) there are (too?)many harmonic and I loosks like a mess. How to work with that kind of vocal track. Do you get rid of some harmonics? Sometimes it sound like false note but the first harmonic is almost correct.
I'm not a pro but I'm still learnig to be one.

Autotune.....interesting technology......you probably would not recongnize it unless you have used it. it certianly needs to be used wiht care and used sparingly. any pro record that has been on the radio in the last six years prolly had some of it used to some degree. it has really raised the bar in terms of what we as a pubilc will accept as clear and right. many singers have asctaully used it live too. i waont name names :)

auto tune 4.0 is certainly more transparent- you don't get as many artifacts- however, you still have to use it sparingly and take care it doesn't sound "auto-tuned"- unless you're Cher or something!

I want to buy a pitch correction plugin. Antares Auto-Tune gets mixed reviews, but I don't know if that's just because of people's natural resistence to Auto-Tuning.

So what's the best auto-tune plugin? Antares? I've heard melodyne mentioned but that's not exactly a plugin, right?

any others worth looking at?

antares is really the best. it is the most inuitive too. melodyne will do the same thing but it is not as simple to use....

If u can't sing dont! I am a guitar player however my fav instrument is vocal. But I know I can't sing!!! I would trade my axes in any day if I could to be a singer. God did not create me that way. Don't get me wrong, I have excellent pitch (ears). I just cant vocalize it...

You should noy have to edit vocals to that extreme to make them right!!! God forbid a live performance!!!!!!! What a let down to the crowd that would be....

Few years ago I listen Danzig. I thought he is good live performer( he had intersting timbre) till I download bottleg video. It was a disaster.He shout to the mike , he was a way out of tune. If you can, try to find and compare live and studio record.
Never trust studio recorded musician anymore.
