I have 2 PC's I use for Audio. One is located in our band's "Live Room" (where we practice, and record raw tracks), and my Tower PC at home (for mixdown, etc). The 2 would NEVER be in use at the same time, and are a 20 minute drive apart from each other (if that affects the EULA of the UAD-1 software).

If I buy a UAD-1, will the plugs ONLY work on the PC with the UAD-1 card installed? Or can the plugs run "natively" off the "other" PC's P4 processor like VST plugs would?

I ask because I would like to have the same plugs avalible on both machines, but I really only need the extra power (of the PCI card) in my Tower Mixdown PC (for the complex mixes). I would LOVE to have the 1176, LA-2A , and Pultec EQ avalible for tracking (for affecting previously laid tracks while overdubbing).

NTM - I will be opening these mixes on both PC's (as tracking proceeds), so if I save a project at home with the UAD-1 plugs running, and try to open it at the practice room, will it freak out because no UAD-1 card is installed, or would it just run the UAD-1 plugs "natively" by default?

I couldn't find this info on a search - but I did try ;)
