I think anything designed as a Neve repro/knock off will have a similar character. That being said, I'd go for it! I'm just Wundering.... If it's similar to those other guys? But a lot has to do with the transformers. NOS? Reproduction transformers? New designs? The transistor stuff can all be matched up fairly easily but it's that little chunk of iron surrounded by coils of wire that really provides that kick in the pants sound.

Come to think of it, Geoff at Aurora Audio, just send me an e-mail, which follows here.

"Our special offer today is our demo GTQ2 Mark 3 Stereo mic pre/DI/eq. This unit has been in used in our 19" demo rack, along with our other products, as a front end for our demo GTM console but hasn't left the building. It's been treated with TLC but may have the odd scratch or two from putting it in and out of the rack.

We are selling it for $2,050.00 to the first person with a definite offer that emails me. CA sales tax may apply if a CA purchase and FedEx/UPS delivery costs would be extra.

It will be backed with a year's warranty, as if new, and is a great opportunity for someone to get one at a very reasonable price!

I'll be watching my emails!

Geoff"

I think it's worth a look into?

The closest to a real 1073 that I've found is either the Brent Averill 1073 or the Chandler LTD-1. I went with the LTD-1 because there's a few added eq points that almost every engineer I know of has been asking for over the years. There's a DI, mic/line pre, and full eq in a 1U rack. Incredible sound and great customer service.

Personally I didn't care for Vintech's products when I had to use them at a studio at which I was recording drums. The Chandlers always work as do the vintage modules and BA re-issues.
