Have you tried ripping it anyway? The reason I ask is that, depending on your setup, you may be hearing the results of the Digital->Analog conversion done by your CD-ROM (or DVD, etc) drive. It's possible there is a problem with the D/A converter on your drive and it will sound just fine when you rip it. Then agian, if other CDs sound just fine, then that's probably not the problem.

Also, I wonder if this CD may have some sort of copy-protection which is causing the noise?

If you need to convert this to MP3, you either need to utilize a computer or you need to utilize a dedicated recorder that will record MP3 in real time from analog inputs. Otherwise, you must use a computer. And I think the reason why you're hearing garbage when listening to this CD on your computer is because your computer is playing the CD from its analog audio outputs and not playing it digitally through the computer. This varies with each computer from each different manufacturer and their different models. Unfortunately, many computers playback CDs this way. If it doesn't playback digitally through the computer I won't have it. Otherwise, your problem sounds like operator error.

Anybody here can do this for you if you just post the .wav file on one of those file transfer sites. So if you rip the CD to .wav do you still have the audio problem?
