Ok

I'm in the process of buying and downloading plugins for Pro Tools M Powered 7.4.

I found a program that can convert VSTs to RTAS. My question is which ones are for MIDI only?

Explain if someone can.

How would i knw which ones are insturments and which are effects?

Um...why are you downloading plug-ins when you don't know what they are? WAIT...why are you buying plugins if you don't know what they are?

Doesn't something somewhere at the place you are purchasing and downloading them from inform you if you are buying/downloading a Reverb or Compressor or a Synthesizer?

...ridiculous.

What Codemonkey said.

ProTools comes with some already installed great plug-ins. You need to learn how to use your tools before you go out and purchased new and unfamiliar ones. You have to know what kind of tools you want to use. Start with the basics. I'm not a retard and neither should you be.

Should tell you when you download it if it's a VSTi or VST.

Thank you Code monkey for ANSWERING my question!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :!:

The question I ask is the question I want ansewered. I know what plugins are and how to use them. The only ridiculous question is are the one NOT asked. Thank you for wasting my time pr0gr4m!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pro Tools plugins ARE the basic. I want to experiment and can't really do that what the basic.

Thank you once again Code monkey for answering my question!!!!!!!

Listen idiot, this is a public forum. Anyone can respond to any post however they see fit.

In your case, I felt you needed a little bit of bashing. I mean, who goes out and buys something when they don't even know what it really is? No one does...unless they are a complete tool.

If you had come here and simply asked your question, which plugins are instruments and which are effects, you would have gotten straight answers.

Instead you come here saying that you are buying and downloading plugins and go on to mention that you don't know which is which. I can GUARANTEE you that any place you buy plugins from will have a description of each plugin they sell so that you know if they are an effect or an instrument and if you can't figure it out from there, then you deserve all the harassment anyone gives you.

Tell the truth now...you are aquiring illegal plugins and the bittorrent sites don't have any descriptions of what you are stealing just names.

And he doesn't know guys like you are actually published equipment review/critics for major technical trade publications. LOL!

Probably also because he's never seen an audio magazine in his life? Especially since he only steals software.

Hell, if things keep up the way they are? I won't have enough money to go to the AES this year. Never mind about plug-ins. That would be a first for me in 35 years. I don't like those kinds of firsts. None of my surplus gear is selling. This is a bummer. Isn't there anybody out there that still know's what it's like to track on a Neve? They just don't know what they're missing. I know what I'm missing? Their money.

Im NOT stealing plugins. They are FREE off the net. No LIMEWIRE or anyother programs like limewire. They don't have a "label" such as digidesign. SO STOP ASSUMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reread Codemonkey post....that the answer I was looking for!! Apparently I know what I was looking for!!!! Is he a reviewer/cristic??!!!

Tip for the future... when you can anonymously research what you dont know on google... you can avoid humiliation, and the flaming in the forums, and therefore avoid having to defend yourself or your knowledge... or that there the lack of.
just try google out, if you've mastered plugins in protools, should be cake for you.

thanx dwrek... Im no way humilated what so ever. plus i thought this is what fourms are for. Q and A. I have googled but nothing came up of relevence (prob. b/c of my wording) Whats the use of having forums when "members" try to degrade or talk stupid to others who don't know the answer??? Other ppl are posting because of "lack of knowledge" also I just wonder did they get the samee BS responses I got?? doesn't make sense to have fourms like this. that why i was talking back to them how i was. I can tell when ppl replyback to post with useless answers like the previous they didn't read the whole post!!! Cause i clearly stated what I was looking for! I have my answer thanx codemonkey!

You didn't understand what I said...I said "simply asked". What was meant by that is if you had only asked the question and not included the other information about you being in the process of buying/downloading then the responses you would have received would have been more to your liking.

You see, when you said "in the process" it implied that you were on a site looking at the plugin and ready to click "Add To Cart" or "Purchase". Any site that I've ever been to that has plugins for sale/download has had a description of the plugins. So I couldn't understand why you came here asking which is which when you should have been able to tell from the web site you were on.

I never assumed anything. I implied. Lots of Hacked software (most if not all) is FREE off the net.
You said, and I quote..."I'm in the process of buying and downloading plugins..." You don't have to buy FREE plugins. And, even FREE plugin sites have descriptions telling you whether they are INSTRUMENTS or EFFECTS.

Let's make this easy...Post a link to one of the places that you were "buying"/downloading from. Maybe that will help me to understand why you couldn't tell if a plugin was an instrument or an effect. If I see a plugin on that page that doesn't describe what it is or have a link to a description...then I will apologize and acknowledge that I am indeed the ass that you say I am.
