Im looking to mike a drum set One as an overhead one on the kick. but i have a restriction. I'm using Tascam us 122 to track it. If i turn on the phantom power it will be for both mics and not one.
would it be ok to mic the kick with the C02 (penicl mic)

samson does have a kick mic but it's dynamic because of the restriction i can't have one dynamic and one condensor mic.

Like bent said and I've said before. Condenser microphones need phantom. Dynamic microphones don't need and can ignore phantom power, unless you have one of those new phantom powered dynamic microphones. And make sure you have good and healthy microphone cables that all utilize XLR, male and female at each end without any adapters.
You can even utilize numerous USB microphones for greater simultaneous recording track counts. But you won't be able to use ProTools with those. You'd have to use somebody else's software for tracking. Then you could import everything into ProTools for mixing. And USB microphones aren't even the 2.0 standard. They're USB 1.1. They don't need to be USB 2.0 as a microphone is going nowhere fast.

Which is actually pretty bad but we keep driving anyhow don't we? Just make sure your microphone cables are not shot, screwed up, flaky. Always use quality microphone cables. Jeremy Cucco is making some nice custom cables. Really nice for specialized applications and so convenient. I think it's because his 2 1/2-year-old son has turned him into a full-time cable slave? I know Jeremy got slugged in the mouth when his 2 1/2-year-old didn't find him performing up to snuff. In respect to China, is this known as reverse engineering?
