Question...is anyone familiar with this pre? Looks cool but has a slightly heafty price tag. There's some other pre's from this company but I'd like to see what kind of quality these guys have. They say this pre is based around a Neve 1272 type discrete class "A" circuitry. It's listed under the Caswell Audio Series. Also they say their comp/limiter (the C2s) is base around the Urei 1176. Well never-the-less, I'm in the market for a good workhorse pre that won't break the bank. Any thoughts?

I heard the C2s (under less than ideal conditions) at the summer
I heard the C2s (under less than ideal conditions) at the summer NAMM show in Nashville last July. They were running stereo drums through it and squashing it 12db and it had a great rock-and-roll, punchy, in-yo-face sound to it. Very 1176-ish, but a bit beefier (probably due to the 1272 type make up amps).
Plus I met Gil Griffith, who is the President of Wave Distribution, the company that handles distribution for Empirical Labs and Purple Audio. Gil, as you can see by the companies he deals with, doesn't represent crap. He was telling me he was impressed with the sound of the C2s and was looking forward to hearing the preamp.
Either this is crap gear or the stuff is good but I'd be better
Either this is crap gear or the stuff is good but I'd be better off going in another direction w/ my choices? So I assume reguardless of the special circuitry, this product does'nt move anybody or maybe nobody's familiar w/ this? I am looking for something that'll give me some good color to my mixes and/or tracks.
