Howdy all,
Im just probally wasting time that i actually i should be practing mixing skills, wondering if the cheap Firewire that came with my interface would sound the same as say a Firewire from Audioquest.
Audioquest has a new firewire line and USB wire lineup at different price points, the upper end one actually has a battery pack on it. I work at a high-endAV store and we are dealers for Audioquest, so i figured i would get a loaner from my rep to try into a studio atmosphere from my Focusrite Sapphire 56 to PC...
Anyone ever do any testing on this or would it be a waste of time?
Cheers, Shane

Thx, I will give it a try. I figured the same you mentioned but since there is all these outboard clocks being used and statements being made about quality difference beacuse of jitter, that there may a slight soundstage change. Ill give some feedback as to if it does anything noticeabbly.Thx again
If you have free access to the cables then try it for yourself,
If you have free access to the cables then try it for yourself, but neither FW nor USB impart any "sound" on anything they are merely digital connection cables that transmit digital signals from one point to the other. They also each have clock, parity and error correction to ensure the digital signal has not been corrupted or lost during transmission across the wire.
