Hi there gang,
I'm looking for a microphone for female vocals in the Barbara/Celine style.
Since my maximum range is probably going to top out around $2000 to $2500, I've been looking at the Microtech Gefell M 92.1 S. Of course, I've also heard about (but not heard myself) the Lawson L251, L47MP and Soundelux U99 that are all in this range. If any of you have first hand experience with how any of these shape up for female vocals, I'm all ears (or eyes).
All comments and input are welcome.
TIA

Hey Screws,
I had the pleasure of using a few Geffel mics in the past, some new, some old, and found them to be interesting but at the same time they seem to lack a bit of "sparkle" for lack of a better term. I've had a pair of older UM70's for a while but they don't get much use. I do think that you would be much happier with either of the Lawson mics. My 1st pick would have to be the L251 though, especially if you're going to use it for a female vocal. It's quite a surprising mic for the money. I tried one out on male & female vocals and was very happy with the results. Another reccommendation I would make is a lesser spoken of Neumann tube mic ... UM57. This too is within your price range (about $2000 USD) and is a wonderful piece of gear. Not only is it great on vocals but it works great on acoutic guitar, strings and overhead drums, etc... Very versitile. Of course, these mics are used so I'm not sure if that's an issue for you or not. I hope my thoughts on the topic will help you in your quest for the right mic.
Have Fun!
