I am borrowing one of the "true match" units from my friend Jakob Handel, along with his Pyramix PC system for this Sundays Haydns Creation.(my Lynx interface still hasnt arrived so I cannot use Sequoia :evil: as I wanted..)
Id never heard of that company until Jakob mentioned them. Anyone heard of/heard /used any of their pieces?
Also, though I did not want to use Pyramix (I love Sequoia!) I am stuck with it until Monday...so if any of you Pyramix users want to offer advice,...I am all eyes.

a/d design using gain ranging techniques. They claim a performance equal to a 28 bit converter and tout that the microphone can be plugged directly into the converter without a mic amp.
I'm sure it's a very good converter and I'd love to hear your impressions of it on your recordings.
In doing careful study of which converters to buy years ago, it was thought that gain ranging--using two a/d converters together--was an inferior method to using one converter. We bought dCS converters because of this.
Stagetec is one company that is involved in specsmanship to the max--just the kind of game attractive to German broadcasters who now offer up HD radio at a severely limited bit rate. How ironic!

Jakob is a former pupil of Van Geest, and was just nominated for his first Grammy. Jakob and Van Geest live literally 5 minutes from me. Both great guys!

Hey Teddy! I visited Berwaldhallen in Stockholm last year. They're using a Stagetec Cantus, and at the time they used B&W Matrix as monitoring. I was only there for two hours or so, but I can say it sounded pretty darn good and as far as routing and flexibility, those things are the shit. 1000 channels over fibre, no need to adjust preamp gain and other things like that just makes one's work as a live sound recordinst a whole lot easier.
Stagetec is engineering quality at it's best, top of the line. I could go on for a while. Point is, try get your hands on that piece of equipment and use it all you can, it's a professional piece of gear that won't disappoint you. There was a A/D & D/A comparison between a couple of hi end converters including prism, lavry gold, stagetec and lake people where the stagetec converters came out on top, hands down. I believe you'll find something if you search recording.org.
As I said, I don't have much experience with the company, but what I've seen has impressed me and I'm eager to hear more about their equipment.

Absolutely quiet, even at very high gain, and as transparent as anything I have ever heard...I would still use my DAVs as I am in love with those, but wow...thats all I can say..amazed.
