i dont know where your at; are theese your first and so only pair? i would recomend...

espeshaly if the above is true great for tracking and mixing, and with built in amp if there are your first set of monitors it takes care of one more purchase of a suitable amp.

I second the MSP-5's if you want a great budget monitor.

If you don't mind the money, grab the Genelecs.

i wouldnt can the yamahas budget in anything but price 500 a pair is a great price for a great monitor.

Of your three choices, I've heard the Mackies and they are very nice, quite competent, other than their lack of very low bass, which is to be expected due to their small size and not neccesarily a problem at all.

For me, doing voiceover, many things considered(Not the least of which - money...), I am leaning toward the Yamaha MSP5A's and, if I'm really pressed for coin, but just have to buy something, the Alesis M1's... All our choices might benefit from some sort of a "sub" woofer, at least for more casual listening of pre-recorded material, if not for particularly critical mixing.
