Is it negative to use one HD Monitor with two computers. My eyes are poorer so I need a big screen and I have little room to put a second monitor.
I have a second PC ready for internet. Whats the best way to hook this all up clean and simple?
KVM switch yes ? Any suggestions on what you use?
thanks!

FWIW, I bought a KVM the other day but returned it and I'll tell you why.
First off, it worked great and I have to get one but not the standard VGA PC connector.
I'm looking or waiting a KVM that supports HDMI and specifically a DVI KVM switch.
The KVM switch that I was only able to find uses the VGA and the difference in color and sharpness wasn't acceptable for me to loose. What I do right now is use an DVI to HDMI adaptor to a HD Flat screen and the picture is hands down superior to VGA. When trying to see tiny fonts on a DAW mixing console for hours, this sharpness is extremely important to me.
HDMI monitoring is hands down, superior for virtual mixing consoles with detail.
What I need is a DVI KVM switch.
If you know of one that I can order, please let me know.

Here's a few I just found but I didn't know I can hook a screen via USB?

I want (need ) a switch that I can toggle between my PC and my Mac and use my dual screens. I have Cubase on the PC and PT on the mac and for some clients who have done a lot of their own work at their homes and want to 'sweeten' at my room, I'll need the ability to load into either platform. I still need an interface for the PC...motu 2408 and use the HD24 as my converters through the lightpipe.
So what would be the proper switch for the monitor screens? The Mac is supporting two now and the PC can be any card I want....

OK Boys. Here you go. I am now not on the DroidX and can do a little snooping. This is the deal for the dual computer to single monitor solution:

It gets more complicated if you want two systems with dual monitors. I think in that case you're better off with a DVI-->HDMI converter and a large LED/LCD TV. I am editing and mixing on a 55" Vizio when I need lots of visual detail.

John, HDMI hub doesn't work but the TruLink looks perfect and so does this one, what do you think?

Dog, your setup is more complicated and that looks right what John has posted.

That will work. I am not a huge fan of USB video though things have improved I think since last I tried it. This is essentially functioning as a USB dock station and I just haven't had a lot of luck with them.
I think the Cables-to-Go Trulink is the one you need Chris, and the Startech is the one Dave needs. However your mileage may vary and dealer dock fees may apply.
Chris, this one is a little cheaper but no USB connectivity. I'm not sure that matters at all.

Chris don't get wrapped up in the extra connections. You only need the monitor connections I think. The way these are normally used is someone like me who is formatting or doing maintenance on multiple computers at the same time, or connection to a server for remote monitoring.

I didn't know you can control video via usb.
I'm with you on all the options, don't need that. Picture quality is paramount. The one I tried worked slick but the picture was degraded to RGB.
Price isn't a concern for me, I want quality.

I only see one USB port per side except for the master. Don't we need two ports per side too? Or, does that one USB serve a dual function (Key and mouse) together?
I watched this and its pretty straight forward :
