I, through an extremely lucky connection, have an opportunity for my music to be placed on a major network channel (as fill music) as well as an opportunity to compose pieces for various other things they need.

I have never worked with this sort of relationship before so I am wondering, does anyone know:

1- How does compensation for this usually work?
2- do you need to copyright your work prior to submitting?
3- let's say it isn't a work for hire, what is the best P.R.O. to register with for this?

Not sure what else to ask except to say I want to know how to start this business venture off on the right foot and keep it going.

Any shared experience would be greatly appreciated.
