Well...I think it was Tommy or Nick who installed it on his P4TE and it was absolutely fine..no problems...
Safe to install...just dont do the Storage Controller driver..that will mess up the Paging File...in a bad way!!

I haven't installed it... I recall reading something over at asusboards, I think, where somebody installed it on their P4T-E and reported a slowdown under the benchmark program they used, so I've been a bit leary of it until some more poor saps blaze that pioneer trail ahead of me :p

Thanks for the speedy reply Nick. I'm thinking of giving it a go; do you know if I need to uninstall the Intel Ultra ATA Storage Drivers first, which came with the Asus P4T-E CD? Or will these new drivers automatically install over the top?

Probably just running the install will tell you if you have to uninstall anything first. Most driver software written recently, especially when made by the bigger companies, has been pretty good about checking out its environment first before proceeding to trash it :)

I'm still running on the plain vanilla install of XP Pro and whatever drivers it comes with, except for the Promise FastTrak raid card drivers that came with that card, and of course the ATI video card drivers of which I downloaded the latest from their website. I got such very good performance specs from the benchmark software I ran after I built the machine and installed the O/S, that I was afraid to install anything that might hurt it.

The Intel Application Accelerator proggie works well. Intel recommends that you run their chipset driver utility first [[url=http://[/URL]="http://support.inte…"]LINK[/]="http://support.inte…"]LINK[/] for optimum performance.

But make sure the rest of your hardware drivers are stable before running the chipset utility, its a hostile proggie! It unloads drivers as it installs the new chipset drivers in real time(scary). One of my beta soundcard drivers crashed the system during the update, and I had to restore the whole OS from a backup :roll: .

Oh well, that was fast. IAA beta 2.2 is out with management of acoustic hard drive noise.

OPUS ----HELP!!!!!!!!

Finally got all the parts and started assembly on the ANUS-OPUS2000/SDFC and it all goes well. O/S loads w/o a problem. Video Driver installs w/o a problem. I drop in the Asus Disk and install the .INF Drivers w/o a problem. I go and install the Intel Application Acceleration thingy and the bitch gives me the "Blue Screen of Death". I click thru it to the standard log in box. From there it just hangs...no disk activity, no screen activity, nothing. I've had to format and reinstall the O/S 3 times tonight.

What is going on with the IAA progy?

The only stuff connected right now is the Promise Controller w/ 1 HDD on it (Primary/Master). A CD-ROM on Mobo Primary IDE as master, FDD on it's cable. Memory is good.

Any ideas?

Asus .inf drivers install without a problem, it's when I install the Intel Application Accel that the problems start.

Do I really need the IAA proggy installed to make the system perform at it's quickest?

Hmm...it works fine for me...it's when I put the ATA storage driver in that it screwed up my system. You dont absolutely need it..it's just something I found that I thought I would share since I'm such a good dooby like that!

Installed the .INF Drivers but passed on the Intel Application Accel program. Have the system running right now at 1.6 rock solid. I did have it ramped up to 2.133Ghz this morning. It lasted about 3 cycles during the Burn-In on Sandra then it locked up. I guess I don't have my ANUS/OPUS optimized quite yet. I'll have to go back and re-read all the posts to get it right.

Anyhoo, I guess I'll leave it at 1.6 for the next couple of days and letter run at stock speed and let it settle in.

If you can think of any of the thread titles where disscusions lean towards the process of optimizing and ramping up the proccessor speeds let me know.

OK, I've been running the new [="http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/beta.htm"]IAA Beta 2.2[/]="http://www.intel.co…"]IAA Beta 2.2[/] . There is now an "Auto-Acoustic Management", an "Advanced Power Management" and "Transfer Mode Limit" functions for the hard drives. You have three settings for making your hard drive quieter ( if your drives support it) along with the other two features.
One fun problem, I tried to apply acoustic management to a CDRW drive(not really supposed to do this), and both the CDRW and hard drive on that IDE channel dissapeared. Luckily a simple re-start brought them back. :p

Benchmarks show a very small performance loss, , so if ya want your hard drives to thrash about less , give the [[url=http://="http://www.intel.co…"]IAA Beta 2.2[/]="http://www.intel.co…"]IAA Beta 2.2[/] a try.
