Hi everyone,
I'm new on this site and found loads of excellent info so thank you all.
I am having a struggle trying to mix a new dance track we have been working on, it always seems to sound a litle "hollow" and undefined and is lacking in controlled weight and clarity down low around 60hz. Any ideas to get the mid range tidied up/ seperated more and the bass and kick tighter and punchier as well as sitting better together? Overall just feels a little flat and "washed out"? All the audio is in Logic and still have all the raw files so can strip it right back.
Desperate to get this nailed now as very frustrating. If any one wants to comment on the mix please feel free.
I have posted a little 30 snippet on yousendit.com to check out for anyone

Thanks for your help.

well there are times you can agree too much with remy.... but this aint one of them... i thought it was pretty well balanced... sure we could quibble about it but thats the good part... you've obviously made it to the point where personal finesse' is involved... dont want to asssume to much here but are you familliar with the idea of subtractive EQ?? most of us seem to find that when something doesn't come through for our ear it's often a matter of finding whats in the way.... for instance since say a keyboard and a guitar part could be in the same range and consequently fighting for the same spacein the mix removing a little from either might help to solidify each other... or perhaps removing some of the low end of a guitar part can help bring the bass alittle forward... make sense??? good luck ... welcome to the club...

I didn't find any hollow quality about your little snippet? It seems to be perfectly lovely electronic music track? Problems with your bass drum sound may be due to the fact that it is not a sample but an electronically generated bass drumlike thing? The fundamental is pure and low, a little too pure can get it a little lost. Maybe a little grunge thrown in will make the bass drum sound a little more punchy? Otherwise I find your little snippet a lovely innocuous and rather benign groove.
Innocuously groovy
