Hi Robert,
I was toled that I can run my stereo outs to a good tube preamp when I am mixing down and that will help give body to the mix.
Is that true or there is no merit in that?

regards

brian.

Sorry, I'm not Robert, but there's a lot to be said for putting a track back through a mic pre (again and again even!) during mixdown, particularly when recording to Pro Tools or other DAW's.

It can add harmonics or fatten things up a bit. Personally, anything put back through the my D.W Fearn VT-1, Vintech X73 (Neve 1073), Crane Song Flamingo or Peach M196 during mixdown has such an astounding clarity, depth, and detail ... & they all have a fantastic midrange.

So basically, during mixdown (or tracking) if the track sounds good leave it ... it you want to enhance it then try it!
