First: The ISRC codes are a 12 digit set of letters and numbers supplied by the record company. There is a seperate code for each song. They are used by the record companies to help track radio play.

I have seen some CD's that tell you the names of the songs. Mostly Sony releases. I use Sonic Solutions HD system. Currently it does not support that option. They say they are working on it. I will look into our Pyramix DAW and see if it supports it.
I'm not sure what software does. I think it's do-able in Toast but not positive. Hopefully someone will tell us!

I've also seen a CD that told you the name of each track.
I think my Sequoia supports that, but I haven't tried it yet though...
The CD with names on each track was done in SADiE.

There are two variables that have to be met to write CD text. The software has to support it and the Burner has to support it. Most likely your duplicator doesn't support CD text and therefore doesn't write it, or maybe the reader doesn't support it. Software that i know of that supports CD text is waveburner pro, toast, and i think jam but not sure. You need an MMC compliant burner in order to burn CD text. i know plextor drives support this and I believe pioneer drives. Most new highend drives are MMC (multi-media compliant). i don't know off hand about PC software that supports it.

Some clients have asked me the same..
CDs I do in Masterlist 2.1/MACS, with ISRC, track names, appear blank at PCs and sometimes with funny names, when using Nero.
Once a mster of mine appeared with the name track Julio Iglesias-lol. Maybe Nero was crazy!!

Also, how can radios verify propely the ISRC codes if even us, studio owners can not see these numbers, unless inside specific pro stuff like MAsterlist, Wave burner Pro and Sonic Foundry? Do theyhave a special application?hum.. I don´t think so, at least in my country..

Just now it is being requested thate very master is sent with the proper ISRC data.

certain drives will display the isrc codes. My analyzer show's them. Also older ripping software will show them too.

Seems Sonic Foundry is choice number one for ISRC coding on PCs at semipro/pro market level, right? Anything else that does fine?

Sonic Foundry's CDA5.0 does the ISRC codes, but does not support CD text.

Guess so, but there are little programs that can do the text thing like NeroMix.

PT comunity has been asking Digi to include some kind of "subroutine" into the main software. No more Bounce to disk waiting time, no need to open Toast/Toast+JAm, Masterlist, etc. Edit directly PQ codes, subcodes in themain edit widnow would be a must.

Concerning your radio comment.
Every radio station has to keep a log of all songs played. This is how artists get paid for there radio play. (the purpose for the codes in the first place.) When I was a DJ in college we would keep a log by hand. I'm sure there is some cool new system that radio stations use to keep track. I will ask some friends of mine at record labels if they know.

In fact I myself saw themain screen of this software but at that time ISRCS codes were still not requested in Brazil. So I guess a new version tracks that coded area of the singles/CDs.

I use Nero, it works perfect for this application. If your song files are already named, you just check the box 'write track info to cd', and it does it for you. Drag and drop the files into the burning window and your done! Very easy and cool.

cd text and isrc

i use roxio jam, toast and plextor recorder and i can write isrc and text on cds without any problems. cd players with cd text feature display text correctly, but on macs or pcs there are problems.

Samplitude does all of that also. text ect,ect.

Studio mates had no luck with Nero also. Plants rejecting dozens of Masters. So you might be using a new improved "pro"version, I guess.

Well, I don't believe this post has been answered correctly. But I may be wrong, so if anyone can put that info on a CD and correctly submit it to cddb or freedb; then go to a friends house and put that CD in thier PC and have all the track names, artist name and copywrite date and picture show up and scroll on the player when it connects to the net, then please let us know how because so far I have not been succesfull

Pop the finished CD into your computer, launch itunes, re-enter all of the info, upload to CDDB, about 3-7 days later it'll appear.

I have used Plextools Pro to read CD Text and submit to FreeDB sucessfully - no retyping necessary.

FWIW, CDs I've burned with Nero (V6) have never been rejected. I use Plextor Premium drives, TY media, and 8x burn speed.

Well you also have to enter other info in as CD text doesn't have everything.

itunes works for me. But I don't enter or upload that info. The distributor, or label or client does that. So I'm not sure about other players and how they work.

the way I understand it is that if the info on the CD is correct and uploaded to gracenote, then the media player checks the store/or gracenote whenever a CD is installed in anyones PC and downloads the picture and the track title names, artist info and all that jazz
